(L + 2) ( W+ 2) = A + 60 where A = area of original garden = L * W
=> L * W + 2 * L + 2 *W + 4 = L * W + 60
=> (W + 8)  * W + 2 * (W + 8) + 2 * W + 4 = (W + 8) * W + 60
=> W^2 + 8 * W + 2 * W + 16 + 2 * W + 4 = W ^ 2  + 8  * W + 60
=> 12 * W + 20 = 8 * W + 60 (we canceled out or subtracted W ^2 from both sides)
=> 4 * W = 40
=> W = 40 / 4
=> W = 10
=> L = W + 8 = 10 + 8 = 18

Therefore, the length of the garden is 18 feet and the width of the garden is 10 feet.
